Sorø

Sorø is a new colony settlement founded on the newly rediscovered Lost Continent. A year plus ago, several ships filled with settlers and equipment set out to resettle the Lost Continent.

Sorø is located in a lovely natural harbor – protected on both the north and south sides by high cliffs. The settlement itself is located in a natural valley that ends on a lovely white sandy beach and is one of the few natural anchorage points on the north-western tip of the Lost Continent. Not to far to the North is a massive and ancient forest with tall fine quality wood. Fairly close to the east of the harbor is excellent quality soil – fertile and rich from what was once probably a natural delta. Further to the east the dwarven contingent recently founded a settlement to extract the strong granite stone that is found there. Not much else has been explored in the area – as the focus has been on acquiring materials and building a strong self-sufficient settlement. In the year that the settlers have been there they have not encountered any other intelligent sentient life forms.

On the main land a quiet year has past, and the second round of settlers has been sent to reinforce the settlement of Sorø. Posters, flyers and news-criers went out to promote the opportunities of a fresh start in Sorø. Settlers where selected based on loose criteria that they could help the settlement grow in to a prosperous outpost.

Little did any one from the main land know, but Sorø has – in the last few months – been set upon by a series of misfortunes. First it began with a persistent illness at the Fort Palco lumberyard to the north. A mysterious malaise has been affecting the settlers there. At first it seemed as if rotating them with the settlers at Sorø solved the situation – but quickly the malaise seemed to affect more than their mental health as people started getting seriously ill.

Roughly at the same time a large aggressive and somewhat sentient plant creature – coined the Triffid by the locals – started attacking the settlement. They originally drove out the dwarves from their stone quarry and steadily increased the pressure on Sorø’s defensive capabilities that the settlers were forced to surrender Fort Palco and Finley’s farms as indefensible. As a final resort they built a massive wall – hastily erected from all the loose material and wood that could be salvaged from the buildings in Sorø. This massive structure now splits Sorø roughly in half and towers some 3 meters high.

Soon after the first of the new settler boats arrived – the third and final misfortune hit Sorø. Some fearsome coral encrusted creature was seen smashing the pier to pieces. Strange crocodile-headed humanoids started attacking the fishermen and people on the beach fronts. Sorø seemed trapped on all sides and doomed to starvation, sickness and being food to the fishy-humanoids in their bay.

Welcome to Sorø!

Update:

Sor0 is now defended by a 13 foot high stone wall (3 feet thick for 10 feet, 1 feet thick for last 3 feet) with a ditch on the outside of it.

It is the capital of the Sor0 empire, that now included 700 gnolls ! They are all that remains (probably) after the undead armies wiped out their civilisation. The gnoll merchant seems to be one of their leaders. They are working on the farms (100+ of them), manning fort Palco and sending us wood (150+ of them), and building their own village and eating / living at the magical wayward inn if they have to. They submit to the rule of Sor0 and live outside of the city walls.

There is a BIG ASS temple for Bahamut in the cliff face inside the city limits, and also a regular temple to Trithereon that is a swinging happy awesome place to be for worship due to the great choir and free healing and free food.

A small but highly trained army has come by boat under the command of lord Dummas, along with new settlers and supplies.

There is a new harbour, where currently a ship is being built by the adventurers guild.

The economy is alive and kicking, mostly using script (paper money authorised by the city council and backed by Dummas) but gold is also good now! There are new businesses popping up, like a brothel (ask Donny), an underground drug den (ask Ricardo), a general store / pawn shop (ask Garitas), and another tavern with tongues cast over it (at the guild). Probably many more now that we have an economy.

Sor0 is now at peace (though not intimately friendly yet) with the glubglubs and kobolds and goblins in the area.
