Before leaving we quickly went around the temple to see if we could find some potions or other help. Redemption had to first get into a potion drinking contest. It was hard work, but she managed to outlast the effect of the different potions, winning a of slipperyness.
Garritas bought a health potion.
I meanwhile, while looking around found a training room. When offered a test of strength I declined, but I did take a look in the acrobatics training room. Before getting myself into anything I first cast a quick quickening spell on myself and then went looking. However as soon as I glanced inside I was drawn in.
Complete darkness with only two platforms. Jumping to one, immediately let to it sliding away, arrows coming for me, and 1 other platform in reach. Jumping over, something else came for me as soon as I landed. At so it continued, rocks dropping, platforms appearing, disappearing. Requiring impossible contortions. But I managed, I managed until the last part, saws, and giant knives coming from each side, requiring exact timing to get through. One step, perfect, 2 step, a small scrape, third step, Just making it fourth step. Pain. A burning sensation down my legs. Unconscious
Darkness with a voice “what will you give me for your resurrection”. my mind was surprisingly clear for someone who had just died. I did not seem to be in a great hurry, therefore it was an excellent time to get some info. “who are you?”.
”ah but you know me already”
“Baron?
”the one and only”
Apparently the baron decided what you must do to get resurrected, he has the githyanki in a much tighter control than I ever imagined. I wonder what kind of price they paid for this immortality.
“so what do you want?”
“what do you have on offer”
”can’t you be a bit more specific?”
”hmm, what about this.. you make sure one of your friends dies. Maybe a fireball gone astray, one round of healing skipped. Something simple.”
I am silent for a moment, not to think of my answer, but that he dares ask such a question, and also, whats in it for him.
“no, no way, I will not betray my friends, and what do you even get out of this”
“ah come on, you don’t even have to do it yourself just a bit negligence..”
”I said no”
”to bad, would have been great fun. So what will you give me”
..
“a sliver of time, an unseen opportunity, a bit of luck or adrenaline”
“how many of these “moments” are you willing to give”
“euhh.. 2?”
”deal” he says a bit to quickly for my taste. And I wake up again.
Around me gawking are bunch of Githyanki. I stand up, on my surprisingly intact legs. “you know, where I come from they don’t put up death traps for your guests”. The Gythyanki are not very impressed, further indicating their crassness. One of them was a bit friendlier though. Impressed with the fact that I was able to make it through at all, handed me a potion of fire giant str (STR25, +7).
With all things taken care off, we rested for the night, and went for the first challenge. The chamber of silks.
We touched the door, and after a couple of seconds were transported to some kind of other place. And landed upon a platform, with around 10 other platforms insight for those who can see in the dark. It was made from some kind of squishy material, and webbing connecting all of these platforms. It is not long until spiders, driders and ettercaps begin appearing out of nowhere. We start laying into them, trying to move from platform to platform dodging arrows from the drider, throwing fireballs when many of them gather in one place. At some point we find that on some of the platforms there are small pillars with opening in them, a pyramid, an orb and a cube. When spiders appear with magic staves that have these exact shapes at the ends the goal becomes clear. Wiping the beasts out requires some time and effort, some serious spell power, and some killer moves but we manage. Catch the objects, insert them in the pillars, and as soon we manage it we disseaper again.
RIght into, what I presume, is the plane of water, there is a lot of water around at least.
