session 36: camp site story

Last night at the campfire we discovered something quite interesting..

I was going over my old notes and discovered that I had found something correlated to the zigurat near Soro before.
On page 153 you can find that an halfling empire was on the old continent, ruled by a godking who fancied a lot of zigurats, zigurats of which the records tell look very much the same as the one near Soro.
While sharing with the group stories of their people began coming out.

All the stories had one thing in common, that the peoples of the old continent came there while fleeing from something. The dwarves tell of a humongous godlike dragon as big as a mountain from which they fled. Also the dragonborn have stories that there race was once enslaved to giant dragons.
The stories say that the halflings fled first, arriving at the old continent first, claiming the best lands first making it possible for them to create their empire. The halflings themselves claim they were first because they were the ones that found the routes to flee by. However the thieflings tell it a different way, they say the halflings bought their freedom, betraying the other peoples. The thieflings themselves left last.
Maybe Redemptions visions of the zigurat covered in blood have something to do with what our progenitors fled from.. there are still a lot of mysteries to be solved close to Soro.

Next to these revelation we also got another surpise, in the middle of the night we got approached by some spirit, it spoke in elven to Ricardo, saying their bodies and bones had been stolen 3 days ago, but.. the not living.. That we were traveling in the same directions as the undead had. They asked us to find their bodies and put them back in their resting places, if not we would be haunted, if we succeeded there might be some reward.

This however did alert is we were heading in the right direction, and we were able to find some tracks of the undead, however it seemed like the lead of the undead only became bigger over time, indicating that they must run day and night…

Eventually we reached a big forest, with no way of our cart being able to get through. However at that point we had also lost the tracks, and we knew that the undead came to us with warmachines, those should only have been able to reach us if there was away through the forest. Therefore we decided to follow the edge of the forest until we could find a road going through it.

However before we found it we were attacked by a group of 20 or so harpies. Getting some fireballs in, setting up a good perimeter we were able to take them down, and we even have one tied up and unconscious. We will see if we can get anything out of the creature.
