After exploring the ruins found in the hills North East of SorØ, we found a third cube. This was a red one, when finding it a chained angel was guarding it, with chains running into the cube.
I was able to interact with the angel, who spoke in a strange dialect of Giant. It was clear that the angel did not like dragons, therefore I tried to convince it to attack the green dragon that was haunting Fort Palco. However the conversation went south and we had to kill it. The death of Angel closed the cube, and we decided to get out of the ruin as soon as possible.
After getting over the treacherous pillars we ran out, with each door closing after we left it.
As soon as we left the ruin the strangest thing happened, a bright light shot up from the cube up into the air, only visible to people who had touched a cube before. Not only that but all the other cubes also had glowing beacons of light centered on them. We saw two coming from SorØ, where we had stored the previous found cubes. A green light came from the North north west, in the direction of the green dragon “Gartholomeux” [EDIT BY DM: This is misleading, at the time where you were standing the light was coming from the peninsula that is the “horn” of the Lost Continent; it is unlikely that the green light comes from Gartholomeux’s Lair]. A Indigo light came from the North East East, which could have been pointing toward fort palco. And lastly a yellow was seen in the far South East.
We tried covering our red cube to stop being a beacon to anything ever having touched a cube, but nothing could stop the light. In our attempts we attracted the attention of both Lord Doemas and Davos, we had to tell them about the cube and Doemas demanded to see it. I asked for some time to cast detect magic so I could better understand the magic of the cube.
When we showed the cube Doemas felt a strong attraction but was stopped by Romano, however Garritas sneaked in and started touching the cube. K’tau and later Romano tried to stop him, but proved unsuccessful. Garritas somehow felt his way into a couple of buttons on the cube. I have done my best memorize what he has done, and I will add those notes to the chapter on the cubes in my notes. Garritas his fiddling with the cube eventually led to the cube opening up.
A big burst of divine magic came from the cube, making a blast wave around the surroundings. Inside the cube we found.. a spine. The cube folded up into nothingness when we took the spine out. As as we did take the spine out it started bleeding and over the next couple hours it started to grow flesh up to a certain point, at which point it also stopped bleeding. The spine/hunk of flesh gave of a aura of divine magic, and later upon casting “detect good and evil” it was found that that this flesh is from a celestial. After a night of sleep I seem to get a message from Boccob, telling me we had done something good. It turned out that K’Tau also got a similar message from Bahamut. Garritas and Romano both woke up with a angel feather in their hands.
This information leads me to speculate that this piece of meat we have found is actually a piece of a (demi)god. The other cubes might contain other pieces of this being. Since we got positive signals from our gods, opening the other cubes might be a good idea.
The blood form the spine we tried to pool into a hole into the ground , to keep in contained. But during the middle of the night Romano discovered that this has attracted some beings. these worm like beings, which looked very similar to normal worms only much bigger their flesh melted back into the earth after blasting them with our combined magical might. The puddles could be sucked back into the spine/hunk of flesh, which we were able to do with the 3 of the 4 worms.
Early in the morning Garteux Maleux came flying and watched our camping site (which was covered by a Leomund tiny hut). At this point we had not choice put to tell Lord Doemas and Davos everything about the previous cubes and what we found in this cube. We prepared to for a talk to the green dragon, deciding that Romano was the best with words, we blessed him with magic to make him even more charismatic and went to face the evil dragon. Both lord doemas and Davos followed me and the party, however Davos soon chickened out and ran back to the camp.
Romano tried to make Garteux talk, and we got as far as discovering that he indeed has a green cube, and that he doesn’t know what the cubes contain, or that they disappears when opened. However the beast kept demanding our cube, or whatever was inside. Refusing to let Green dragon use this part of a divine being for his own interrests Romano challenged him. Gartheux accpeted, whoever won would get the cube from the other.
Needless to say battle commenced.
